I'll start with all of the things that I liked about the game:
- I like Pochica for one thing, haha! He's very adorable despite the fact that he won't do much to help and is rather a side person to make comments during cutscenes...
- I do enjoy the cutscenes that they came up because some have you to actually participate in (like chasing after the kids who took Shinji's book). Some are just pretty funny like watching your character chase after the Wind Sprite (which is assumed impossible since he's the fastest one there while also being supernatural) because he wants to be amused (jerk... xP).
- Or going on dates, enjoying the little snide remarks Pochica makes, especially towards Steve. Anyone else agrees? Not being a jerk or anything, it's just kinda funny how Pochica doesn't trust Steve and Steve doesn't like him too much in return. Also the date scenes are pretty cute.
- I kind of like the fact that you have to see all of the date scenes before you can chose any one of them (I haven't actually gotten married yet, but this is what everyone has been saying so I'm assuming this is what needs to happen).
Here are all the things I DON'T like about the game:
- Collecting the pieces of the blue feather to make a dream come true for you or someone else when you put together all seven pieces. After playing for hours(from the time put together when I have the free time to play), I DESPISE that new feature. Why the hell do you have to collect those pieces?! I feel like that's an unnecessary feature. There are random ideas being thrown out there about the blue feathers so I'm not sure what is true about it. The only thing I've heard about the blue feather is that you could wish to get married, then all of the bachelors will come to you one by one and propose to you. All you just have to do is accept/decline. Then I also heard that the blue feather is NOT used for marriage. So I'm utterly confused, I have 6/7 of the feather completed and I CAN'T obtain the last feather piece. I've also heard that you obtain feather pieces by watching cutscenes outside of your store, don't know if it's true though. Anyways, my next question is: what does "make someone else's dream come true" mean? Harvey dies sometime throughout the game and no one currently knows if there's a way to avoid it. Does this include "making someone else's dream come true"? That would be making Rachael and Anna's dream a reality? Seeing their son/brother come back to life and all. This brings up my other point.
- IF that's what the blue feather could be used for (to bring Harvey back to life), isn't it too selfish of a thought to chose you getting married or having the opportunity to bring a child back to life? I heard that you could actually start collecting the pieces over again, but I don't know if that's just another glitch problem or if there's some other factor that would/would not let you start collecting again.
- Harvey's death also brings up another point that bothers me. When Harvey died, the next day (by the way I had to save after the cutscene and start up the next day) no one seemed to give a crap. Everyone went on as if nothing special ever happened, including Harvey's family and friends. Only until I realized that I haven't checked on Sue (one of Harvey's friends), that I ran into the cutscene of her mourning her death. A few game days later I got the cutscene of Anna (Harvey's sister) and Rachael (Harvey's mom) mourning over Harvey's death. I still haven't completed Anna's sidequest because I left off somewhere on the ring dropping out of Harvey's smudged sketchbook.
- The glitches that I mentioned is very annoying. So far I only know of two that I experienced. One of them is the item duplicating glitch. It applies to key items as well, and I've duplicated quite a bit of key items by mistake. It scratches at my OCD that I have these duplicated key items that I can't get rid of and/or don't remember if I actually completed the sidequest for it. I only seem to duplicate the key items instead of the other items you can buy and sell (food, gems, tools, etc). The second glitch is when your game freezes. I don't know why it glitches like this and I've experienced it at least three times. I just rode it off as some sort of overload or the game couldn't process what I did fast enough or something. First time my 3DS was already dying so I didn't care too much haha. The rest of my experiences pissed me off since it was still a pretty alive battery. All those times I tried to put it on sleep mode or shut off the 3DS, but that just led to having me to wait for the battery to just die so I can start up the game. I wished I read sooner that someone got rid of theirs fast by clicking on the "Home" button and switching it out to some other game/app feature... But whatever.
- I seriously wished the game plot was bigger... I don't honestly see what else there is to this main game plot besides finding out that Helena is the Harvest Goddess... It's pretty obvious though. First off you have a Harvest God that you run into when it's raining and you visit the room in the shrine. Then you have Helena who's a very beautiful blonde haired, fair/pale skin, honey colored eyes, kind personality, and everyone who just adores her whether it's because of her beauty or personality. Not to mention that Shinji, our deity scholar, recognized her as the Harvest Goddess right off the bat. I considered this as a non-completed game still yet though because I don't know if this is the game plot and I haven't gotten married yet. Which is the typical "ending" of the Harvest Moon/Rune Factory series.
- My other problem with this game are the characters. They're very... bland and sterotypical... There's that one guy who came from the city and wants to convert the town into the city like some irritating business man. Yeah, I'm talking about Steve. I'm happy that his opinion changed about that though. Then you have the other bachelor Shinji who's a scholar that no girl seems interested in him (by far as I'm concerned in the game world haha). I don't think the company has made a scholar that was extremely good looking but NOT interested in dating, unless you can woo him~? That'd be an interesting idea for a bachelor, haha! Anyone agrees? ...Anyone? Ahem, anyways, I don't exactly know how to explain it. The characters in the game just seem so bland. You just have to play to see. Comparing them with the other characters from the Rune Factory/Harvest Moon series, these characters from the HTS series are not very creative.
- The amount of bachelor/bachelorettes in this game kinda bothered me a lot in the beginning. I believe it was three for each gender? Anna, Haruka, and Mika for males. Dexter, Shinji, and Steve for the females. Usually in the HM/RF series there were five at least, I think? It left more of an open variety for you to really chose who you wanted to marry (why the hell did that just sound like a line from a dating show...).
- This is just a personal issue that probably doesn't bother many of you. I kinda wish Jacques was redeemed for his crappy detective skills. Many of his crappy detective work seems to leave him jobless and he can't make any money to support himself (the sidequest where he steals/eats vegetables from Bobby's farm made me wonder if he's just too poor to buy any food for himself from the shop since I don't really recall him buying much besides sidequest items, or perhaps I just manage to skip whenever he shows up in the store or just don't remember). Does anyone else feel sorry for him or is it just me? Is there some sort of sidequest that helps him solve a case or something? Last one I seen was him accidentally burning down part of his home... -Sigh- It's pretty easy to get annoyed with that moronic incident, but overall I just feel sorry for him...
If you were wondering my game progress, overall I'm at +2 million coins/gold/game currency/etc, at maximum expansion for my shop, by the resident book I've seen everyone (main and minor characters), and at 6/7th completion of the blue feather pieces. That's pretty much the general summary. Later!
